Online Shopping Vs. Traditional Shopping

Online shopping is the trend today. Perhaps, it’s because almost everyone has internet access that makes it easier for businesses to sell their products and services to a wider market. It also helps that online shopping sites are easier to deal with than traditional stores. Here, shopping for stuff is as fast as the bat of an eyelash, so long as you have the money to buy them.

Online shopping sites abound on the internet. They provide everything a normal person could ever need, from clothing and gadgets to home wares and even Exclusive products. I know several online shopping sites that make millions, if not billions of dollars, in sales. I think the most popular among them is Amazon. As they say, name it and Amazon has it.

Forced Leave Friday

I am on a “forced leave” today. It’s a type of leave available in our office which is actually part of our vacation leave credits. I have not been forced to take this leave, though. I am on a forced leave today because I needed to do some errands for myself, for my family and for the boyfriend. Actually, the boyfriend took the day off with me. He’s that sweet. And dependable.

Our first stop was UST Hospital where I got my pap smear results. There were a lot of patients who came before me so the boyfriend and I had to wait for almost an hour to be accommodated by the doctor. We people-watched to kill time. We also talked about a lot of things so it ended up much like a bonding moment for us. The keen observer in me even noticed how UST Hospital continues to upgrade its facilities to better serve its growing clientele. The metal chairs provided for the patients waiting for their turn in the clinic were still in very good condition and the white-painted walls looked neat and clean. The marbled flooring was well-polished, too. I wonder if these would still be the case had they used laminate floors instead? I don’t think so because such type of flooring though more earth friendly sounds high-maintenance to me.

IPL Laser Hair Removal Treatment for My Armpit Hair

UPDATE:

I have hair in my armpits that requires regular shaving. It doesn’t worry me much except when I’m out wearing sleeveless tops. Over the years, I have observed that continued shaving can make the hair in the armpit grow thicker and longer. Shaving can be tiring, too, as armpit hair grows faster than those in the arms or the legs. I gave up on plucking a long time ago because my armpits had ‘chicken skin’ from it.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Laser hair removal is arguably the better way to manage armpit hair growth than plucking, shaving and waxing combined. Compared to the first-known laser hair removal, IPL “uses specific wavelengths of light that deliver greater energies while causing lesser damage to the skin.” In fact, IPL even guarantees permanent hair removal. When I learned about this, I started checking out the prices of IPL laser hair removal treatments in many salons in the metro. I was shocked to find out that one session alone could cost me P3,500 to P6,000. Ouch. I can never afford that. I don’t want to afford that.

Forever 21 Mania in Manila

Forever 21 fever is on! Or at least for people here in Manila. This American chain of clothing retailers has recently opened its second branch at SM Makati. (The first branch is housed at the enormous SM Megamall.) I was in Makati last Sunday with the boyfriend, his sister A and some friends from Cebu. After having a hearty lunch at Good Earth Tea Room courtesy of the vouchers I got from Groupon Philippines, we decided to burn some calories by walking our way to the nearby SM Makati. I asked our group to peek into the Forever 21 store before heading to Mall of Asia (MOA) to meet up with more friends.

We didn’t know it was just the second day of opening of Forever 21 so we were kinda surprised at how big the crowd was. Boy, was the store huge! As soon as we stepped inside the store, I saw people everywhere I looked. There were lots of merchandise to choose from, I tell you. But it was quite difficult to actually inspect the items and decide to buy because we were in a hurry as we were supposed to go to MOA. In short, I left the store empty-handed but promised myself to be back soon.

My KFC Lunch is the New Fish Twister

UPDATE: Just sharing my KFC Fish Twister review.

Just got back from my ob-gyne’s clinic. Glad everything turned out okay and normal. She advised me to go back to her next week so she could interpret and give the pap smear results to me. The boyfriend was kind enough to accompany me to my doctor. After my check-up, we were supposed to go to the World Trade Center so he could check out some auto show there. But the rain poured hard on our side of town and so we had to cancel it. We just had lunch at KFC-Nagtahan and then went straight home.

KFC Fish Twister

My lunch was KFC’s special offering for Lent, the new Fish Twister (P80 for ala carte and P95 with softdrink). It was served on our table hot and inside a box. It was basically breaded dory fillet, cucumber slices, special mayo-mustard sauce and two kinds of cheeses (melted mozarella and grated cheddar) wrapped in a warm tortilla.I loved it. It was good. KFC was also generous with the mayo-mustard sauce and the two cheeses. Yum.

My Beetle Earrings

I love wearing earrings. It makes me feel girly and feminine. I wear all kinds of earrings except for the clip-on ones. Whenever I buy a new pair of earrings, I always take comfort and wearability in consideration. In our office, for instance, women are not allowed to wear dangling earrings. I own a few pairs of dangling earrings but to avoid getting subjected to disciplinary action, I only wear them when I attend a party or go out with friends.

My latest earring purchase is a pair of beetle earrings. I got it from a jewelry stall manned by a Chinese lady at a Baclaran mall early this year. I was able to lower the price to P100, thanks to my haggling skills. I said ‘beetle’ because that’s what the earrings look to me. They are actually faux pearls covered with silver-plated metal in the upper front shaped into what looks like insect heads with wings. The faux pearls serve as the body to complete the insect look. And those insects sure look like beetles, aren’t they?
