Weekend Story: Pampering Session, Solaire Casino and Quick Home Visit

Last weekend was short but sweet. My Saturday was spent through a pampering session with Mame and my sister Jodie at this cozy, little salon in Makati called Edwin Lisa Salon. Well, it’s more like we just had our hair fixed there and we got very satisfied with the results. You may read more about our experience and see our hair makeovers here.

The hubby and I, on our way to Bacoor, stopped over at Solaire Resort and Casino. We wanted to try our luck at the casino by playing roulette. We don’t know much about the game; we just know about its “color betting” feature. That is, placing bets on the red or the black could win us the same amount as our bet. Easy to understand, right?

Review: Keratin Smoothing and Balayage Color Treatments at Edwin Lisa Salon, Makati

It was my friend Monette from LCDTM and my SIL Albie who introduced me to this cozy little salon in Makati . They go there annually to have their hair rebonded and they get very good results each time. Add to that the fact that the prices at this salon are reasonable. So, one time, I had my hair rebonded there and even blogged about my experience here.

After five years, I visited the salon again last Saturday to accompany my sister Jodie and my mom there. Jodie had her hair cut, colored and rebonded while my mom had her hair cut and colored only.

Shopping Fast: November Report

Note: I started my self-imposed shopping ban on January 1, 2014. I made it official online through this post, and called it a “shopping fast.” I also shared there the reasons why I took the challenge and laid down some rules to guide me while on it.

Why I Use Loyalty Cards

If there’s one smart living tip I know and apply in my life, it’s using loyalty cards whenever possible. Right now, I have five in my wallet: SM Advantage Card (SMAC), Happy Plus Card, Shakey’s Pizzanatic Supercard, Starbucks Card, and Citibank Cebu Pacific card. I buy and use the products and services of these companies from time to time so I might as well benefit from them. It’s better than nothing.

With SMAC, I normally get 1 point (which is equal to 1 peso) for every P200 spent at SM stores and other partner establishments. I get less than 1 point for every P200 spent at SM supermarkets and I don’t know why. These points accumulate over time. I even get bonus points from PLDT!

Impromptu Date with My Girls

Last night was fun. My sisters Nyam and Jodie invited me out of the blue to go malling. They also instructed me to bring our Mame along. The mall of choice was SM Manila due to its close proximity to our place. We met at our usual meeting place — in front of Kanzhu restaurant.

Mame and I met up with Nyam first. While waiting for Jodie to arrive, we people-watched and chatted to our heart’s content. Our topics of conversation went from money and shopping to Hollywood and musical instruments. Are you familiar with electronic drums? I’m not. I only know about the normal drums drummers strike to produce a selection of sounds. But if you’re curious, see MF and find out about them. Anyway, we only stopped chatting when we saw Jodie walking towards us.

Weekend Story: Alabang Stroll with Friends

Somehow, I felt that last weekend was kinda short (bitin in Filipino slang). On Saturday night, the hubby and I along with our two good friends Nice and Melay drove to Alabang for a stroll before going home in Bacoor.

First, we dropped by Alabang Town Center (ATC) to have my phone battery replaced. It was free of charge because the battery was part of a batch being recalled for safety-related defects. We got my phone back the next day (kudos to the Switch team for the fast service!).
